August 2008       Key Behaviors Of Successful People by
Marge Powers, CCBW
Work:
  • Successful people work smart, not long.
  • Find appropriate key skills in order to master achievement and success.
  • Are committed to results, not activities.
  • Are willing to change and learn new things.
Time:
  • Do only what is needed to obtain the goal.
  • Say no to what does not fit the goal.
  • Create leisure time for themselves.
  • Keep track of time to complete projects and plan appropriately.
Risk-Taking:
  • Trust their intuition.
  • Make clear decisions and act on them.
  • Admit mistakes, are flexible, and change immediately.
  • Look at worst possible outcomes, plan, and problem solve in advance.
  • Always have an alternate, back up plan.
Relationships:

  • Have supportive and effective relationships at home and at work.
  • Seek quality rather than quantity in relationships.
    Choose only relationships
  • that enhance their self confidence and self esteem.
Mental Rehearsal:
  • Imagine and visualize all the outcomes they want and mentally rehearse the steps to achieve the outcome.
  • Take time each day to review and imagine the successes they are having right now, not the future.
  • Create the future by accomplishing a key task or goal for each day, they pay attention to now.
Values and Beliefs:
  • Make choices to see the positive in all situations
  • Focus on problems, not personalities.
  • Give to other people, appropriate to the situation, their time, talents and money.
  • Maintain their own self-esteem by supporting and validating and maintaining the esteem of people they encounter.
  • Report an experience of being connected to a larger source than just themselves.
  • Always trust this source to guide them.
